Cheering at a Crit

Today we had a great day out with our friends Chris and Debby! We met up in Ninigret, RI at the Mystic Velo Criterium where Chris was racing Cat 3.

This was the first time I'd tried to take pics of him racing in this year's kit, so I had to get used to looking for him in it!

After a while, I could pick him out pretty well. It's easier to see than the previous one that was dark colors.

He was even easier to see when he was at the front of the pack to chase the breakaway!

Go, Chris, Go!!

We were so lucky that it didn't rain, despite being cloudy, and after the bike race we enjoyed dinner and shopping together too!

Edited to add:

2 short video clips from Cat 3 race

finish line video of Cat 3 race

Also, I have a ton of pics from this race, so if you are looking for pics of someone else, let me know, I might be able to help!

A disc in a crit???? Not sure if that is allowed.....There are rules on a minimum number of spokes....so I am not sure but why? PS The new cycling kit looks great.....Ornage makes a nice change from the blues and reds that everyone seems to have

Lovely looking kit. And that bike is gorgeous!

Sadly, I'm in the category of having a red, white and blue club kit, although it is quite distinctive and easy to spot, especially with the union jacks on the sleeves; although the kit has caused some confusion with those who aren't in the cycling world of knowledge who think I'm a member of the GB squad! If only!!

Just wanted to post to publicly thank Sarah for the great pics and video!

As for the disc wheel - I'm not sure. I've seen a few of these in my years (4 seasons) of racing, but they're rare. I know local legend Paul Curley was one of the 2 guys that used a disc Saturday. Sure wouldn't want to ride one in a strong crosswind!

Thanks for the compliment on the bike too. I have an "offical" portrait of it (including specs) on my blog under "Ride Pics"

If you can't be fast, at least look fast ;^)

Thank you again for saving me with the photos and finish line video! It is much easier to find Chris now with the new kit, and also the deep dish tires. Otherwise I'd be lost!

Unfortunately, I'm not going to make it to the LDR. Looking forward to your blog post about it. It is a fun ride and I really like my t-shirts from the past 2 years.

No t-shirt this year. The order didn't get produced on time. I showed up without shoes and had to buy a pair, put on the clip and all that. We left 10 speed at 6:35 and couldn't catch the group.
